The beginning

My wife and I have been dreaming of getting our own place for the last five years. But being priced out of the market we decided to retreat to Taiwan for a while, save up some money, and to do a little cultural exchange.

The financial crisis brought us back to Britain at the beginning of this year as we thought with house prices plummeting we had to take advantage of this window of opportunity.

An old friend of mine moved to a nice small town in Northamptonshire called Wellingborough where property prices are below the national average and yet offers reasonable access to London [Wellingborough to St. Pancras in under one hour] and a nice rural environment. House prices have also fallen at least 25% under their peak, not bad really and certainly good for us. So, we've decided to follow him there and start on a new adventure.

This cute little house is going serve as our home for the next few years and this story will be about our life there, settling in, decorating, meeting the neighbours, getting to know the local area and so on and so forth...
